Dawn began by getting creative with walls, removing unnecessary divisions and eliminating a staircase so that the dining room, pantry and laundry could all fit within the same level. A gourmet chef’s kitchen was of utmost importance for clients who love to cook. Top-of-the-line, high performance appliances were chosen; a gas range pairs with a mini induction top on the quartzite island for ease of entertaining. Above the island, reeded brass surface-mounted lights keep sight lines open. Dual steam ovens, high-end refrigeration, dishwasher and more all allow for endless meal possibilities. Warm wood stained cabinets and darker quartz countertops for the drop zone perform well for bustling family life. Every square inch of space was utilized for maximum storage. A full bar area provides the perfect space for party hosting, as well as a luxury coffee area with built-in appliances. In the bar, reeded wood and brass hardware details match those found within the kitchen.

In the breakfast room, a calm playfulness feels right at home. The light fixture, with scallops and a bit of patina, offers a classic Southern vibe. The tulip table lives easily alongside custom pillows in a mix of colors and prints. The banquette is upholstered in vinyl and can be easily wiped down. White window treatments and a lightly textured wallpaper add softness. The nearby cooking prep area houses an ice machine, microwave and the main fridge—spreading out the appliances in the space avoids crowding.

Archways in the main space were the inspiration for adding an archway into the dining room. With walls shifted for the kitchen, the dining room was made more petite and cozy. Dramatic landscape wallpaper and color-drenched molding and ceiling partner with dark wood tones throughout. Performance fabric ensures the cream-white chairs withstand large family gatherings.

The mudroom is built for durability and usefulness without losing interest. Porcelain checkered floors take everything in stride. Eclectic blue lockers with benches, drawers and cabinets are perfect for the kids’ hustle and bustle. Mesh grilles and mixed metals provide visual warmth. Washer and dryer are hidden where the back staircase used to live. Sconces with a dripping design, along with unique artworks, give the space added interest. A natural skylight brings softness.

As a jewel box of a space, the powder room provided the perfect canvas for fun peacock wallpaper, an organically-shaped mirror, offbeat sconce placement and a unique sink design. The pink tone of the sink is provided by the Colorado marble used. At less than 14 inches deep, it is custom cut from a single slab and sits on top of a tailored floating vanity.
